Greetings!  The Announcements category in the blog will, from time to time, be used to provide information about the latest changes to the website, and to answer some of the readers’ questions.  This post is the first of those.

Answers to Visitors’ Questions

I appreciate all the encouraging comments from the site visitors.  I even appreciate the comment from the fellow who warned me that my last few posts were kind of boring.  I suppose that keeps me humble.

To those who have been asking questions related to web authoring, plugins, WORDPRESS, etc., I am unfortunately not an expert in those areas.  I chose to sign up with fatcow.com for my domain.  I use WORDPRESS, and I know just enough to do what I have been doing.  I am using a simple template I picked from the available options.  Nothing fancy.  For now, that seems to be sufficient, but chances are I will need to change it in the future.  Also, some of the comments I receive are definitely spam.  At this point, I simply let WORDPRESS handle spam.

Advice to New Writers?

Let me be honest.  I am passionate about a particular topic, the kingdom of God.  I feel that I have some useful information to share in that respect, but I did not start out thinking I would be considered as a great writer.  I am an engineer by profession.  During my career as an engineer, I tried to develop the ability to communicate using precise language for clarity.  In this website, I try to remain as light-hearted as I can even though I think I am dealing with a very important matter.  I guess it is not about me.  It is about the one who came up with those amazing ideas which, I believe, should have been, and even today, should be mankind’s main pursuit so that there is hope for the world.

Here is my clumsy attempt to answer a question from a new writer who wants to know what process I go through when I write a new article.  First, I have to find a topic for a new post.  It could be something I have been obsessed with for a long time, or it could be something that caught my attention in the news.  Once I make my decision on the topic, I come up with a list of related subtopics and try to arrange them in the order I assume they will appear in the article.  I have to be able to imagine the flow from one idea to the next, and have a fairly good idea of the ending.  I may decide that I need to do some research on one or more of the subtopics.  Depending on the topic, this process may take a few days, and some of my best progress may occur while I am taking a shower in the morning.

As long as I have a full time job, Saturday will be my best day for writing.  Once I am ready to write, the most difficult part is the introduction, which usually ends up taking more time than I initially expect, as I try to find a way of smoothly sliding into the main topic.  The rest of it is usually easier as it lies within my comfort zone, which is to assemble a set of ideas in a logical pattern.
